WINE / BOTTLE STOPPER Parts
Silvertone, metal, with rubber for wine/bottle stoppers. The Top balls might also vary slightly in diameter. It just depends on what comes in.
Overall length is 4 1/2" long. Beads need a hole of at least 2.5mm. Remember, even if a manufacturer states the hole size as 2.5mm, they may not be perfectly consistent. The rods for these Stoppers are larger in diameter than the Metal Pen, Letter Opener Style B, Magnifying Glass, Appetizer Knife and Fork, Cheese Knife/Server, and Salad Serving Set. Top ball screws off to add beads/decor. Rod measures 1 1/4" of beadable space.
These stoppers are for multiple short term use not to exceed one week at a time. They are for display and serving. Using them for long term storage will cause pitting and flaking of the plating due to acidic buildup in the wine from oxidation. This is true for all wine stoppers presently on the market.

Most come from The Beadery, (thebeadery.com) a company that sells through craft retailers such as Hobby Lobby, Michaels, JoAnns, Wal-Mart, and other stores. Their beads are also sold on internet sites. You can look at their site for bead names and numbers, then look for a source on the internet. Darice (darice.com) also distributes comparable beads through retailers and internet sites. Many acrylic, metalicized acrylic, and wood beads do not have a big enough hole. Be sure to take something with you to measure. If you are adventurous, you can drill a larger hole in the acrylic beads, but it's not fun. Some of the glass beads at craft retailers will fit. You can make clay, glass, and beads from other media yourself. Wood forms, such as the spools shown below, ovals, rounds, etc., can be purchased at craft stores, and on the internet. These can be covered with beads. |
