Instructions for all Projects using Bead Weaving (html format)
Glueing items onto this project: For buttons I use 2 part clear 60 second epoxy in the syringes. You can get this at hardware or automotive parts stores. For flat back Swarovski's, I use Beacon brand Gem Tac, available at most any craft store. Use a toothpick to apply little dots of GemTac, about 3 at a time. Let them sit a minute so the glue will get tacky, then put the stones on the glue dots. This way, the stone is much less likely to 'swim' around on the glue, and stay exactly where you put it down. For applying beadweaving: I usually cut out a piece of gold card stock, or gold poster board. I can get this at Michael's craft store, Hobby Lobby, or JoAnn's. I buy matte gold, rather than shiny gold - just a personal preference. Then I paint the sides of the card stock with gold acrylic paint, because the gold color is only on top, not all the way through the card stock or poster board. I apply an approximately 1/64" layer of epoxy on the card stock, and place the beadwork on it. It's just enough glue so that it goes up between the beads a little bit, but not enough to come through the beads where you can see it. Then I glue (with epoxy) the card stock/beadwork combo to the top of the business card holder. I do it similarly with right angle weave, netting, etc. I just use a toothpick to apply the epoxy to the beads, and lay it all down on the card stock. I've worked with epoxy for at least 3 decades, and I'm very used to it. |
