A BEAD PEN Metal Bodied Parts
Metal bodied. Heavier than the plastic bodied pens. Some people prefer the heavier weight/feel. But, you must know that these are not easy on the hands. All metal bodied bead pens of this style currently on the market are 1.7 ounces, without beads. (The plastic bodied pens are slightly under 1/2 an ounce in weight.) Only good for writing short notes. They will tend to be more of a desk 'decoration' than a pen that is used all the time.
Overall 5.8" long. Area to place beads on is adjustable between 2.25" to 2.5" long. Your beads need to have a hole at least 3/32" (2.38mm) in diameter. Not all beads are uniform, no matter what the package says the hole diameter is. The shaft diameter is the same as the Letter Opener and Magnifying Glass shafts. It is smaller in diameter than the Plastic bodied pens.
Ink Infill included, black ink. Great for lampwork, polymer clay, beaded beads, precious metal beads, and other artwork. Always make sure the hole size is large enough before purchasing beads.
NOTE: The Black Pen has a different style
top than the other colors.

Click here to get it straight from Adobe http://www.adobe.com Beads for Metal Pens - Other than hand-made glass or polymer beads, Beaded Beads (seed beads over wooden beads), most of the large hole beads are acrylic, metalicized acrylic, or wood. Most come from The Beadery, (thebeadery.com) a company that sells through craft retailers such as Hobby Lobby, Michaels, JoAnns, Wal-Mart, and other stores. Their beads are also sold on internet sites. You can look at their site for bead names and numbers, then look for a source on the internet. Darice (darice.com) also distributes comparable beads through retailers and internet sites. Many acrylic, metalicized acrylic, and wood beads do not have a big enough hole. Be sure to take something with you to measure. If you are adventurous, you can drill a larger hole in the acrylic beads, but it's not fun. Some of the glass beads at craft retailers will fit. You can make clay, glass, and beads from other media yourself. Wood forms, such as the spools shown below, ovals, rounds, etc., can be purchased at craft stores, and on the internet. These can be covered with beads. |
